Characteristics

Rnu allele on chromosome 10 is an autosomal recessive mutation associated with hairlessnes and thymic aplasia
The thymus-dependent lymph node areas are depleted of lymphocytes (T-cells)
Phenotypically hairless (sparse hair growth possible)
Rudimentary thymic tissue
Increased Natural Killer (NK) cell population
Foxn1^rnu/Foxn1⁺ heterozygotes do not show partial expression of rnu phenotype
